Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475[2]– 1564) è stato uno dei più grandi artisti di tutti i tempi: scultore, pittore, architetto e poeta. Michelangelo non necessita di presentazioni, basta ricordare alcune maestose opere d'arte come il David, il Mosè, la Pietà del Vaticano, la Cupola di San Pietro e il ciclo di affreschi nella Cappella Sistina.
Per questo mazzo di tarocchi dedicato alla sua arte sono stati scelti i disegni, meravigliosi anch’essi, ma meno conosciuti, così da offrire uno sguardo anche su queste opere. Solo un paio di eccezioni: il Mondo (XXI arcano) - un particolare della Cappella Sistina - e il Mago (I arcano), un ritratto di Michelangelo realizzato da Daniele da Volterra.
Per ogni carta è descritta la collocazione dell'opera originale e qualche parola di Michelangelo stesso tratta dalla sua opera Le Rime. Ovviamente, la traduzione in inglese è letterale e non ha potuto rispettare la rime italiane in originale.
Nel lavoro grafico sono state inserite le immagini dei Tarocchi dei Visconti Sforza, così da creare una sinergia creativa: arte nell’arte per celebrare l'opera di un grande artista insieme ai tarocchi più famosi della storia.

Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (1475–1564), best known simply as Michelangelo, has long been regarded as the greatest artist of the Italian Renaissance, while having a tremendous influence on artists and scholars ever since. That said, this tarot deck is dedicated to Michelangelo's sketches, drawings and lesser known works, which were carefully curated by Morena Poltronieri to offer a refreshing glimpse of his subtle brilliance, viewed through the lens of Tarot's Major Arcana. Two exceptions in her objective here would the XXI - World card, which was taken from his infamous painting of the Sistine Chapel. And the other is the portrait in the I - Magician/Mago card which is a tender image of Michelangelo drawn by Daniele da Volterra - a contemporary and friend to the great master. Both cards are shown below. In the sparse but helpful leaflet, each card description shares the location of the artwork along with with a few words by Michelangelo himself, taken from his book Le Rime. The English translation of this text is rather literal and therefore may not convey the inherent poetic Italian rhythms and nuances alas, but it is nevertheless a somewhat useful reference. Images from the Visconti Sforza Tarot Major Arcana were included in each of the Michelangelo Tarot Tribute cards, in order to 'create a deeper synergy.
